Ghetto Girl

Hey my Ghetto Girl,

We need you in this world…

See you humble people who forgot where they came from…

Living in suburbia with more skeletons than the coroner…

Your loyalty is a commodity

You love because you came from love…

I see you hustling to break generational curses,

Selling hair weaves and bonnets,

after leaving the office…

The realness of your image

The blackness of your spirit,

Upset those who sold out,

It disturbs the closets where they hideout…

Keep walking with your head high in your neighborhood,

Raise your children with a humble spoon…

Stand strong on where you come from…

I rather you be ā€œghettoā€,

Than a fake who forgot where they came from…

It was that ghetto life that taught you how to fight,

How to survive when money is tight,

It’s the ghetto living that keep you dreaming,

Your faith in God that will have you winning,

Hey Ghetto girl, we are one of the same,

Be proud to live up to your urban name…

Job Shaming

Ignoring chit chatter,

From the high all mighty splatter…

My future secured,

401k insured…

I’m locked in savings & bonds…

Doing my part,

Solving the dissolve

While my business plan evolve…

I laugh at the job shaming,

Teachers underpaid who we blaming,

What’s an entrepreneur without proper guidance of maintaining rewards…

How can you say we don’t need education,

Without jobs…how will there be a nation…

I’m not ashamed,

I’m working, not unemployed,

My ancestors worked too hard for me not to be employed…

I won’t wear out the springs in my couch

Sitting home not nurturing the brain,

My job teaching me the wealth of the game…

Valuing every dollar before I get a million,

Following in my uncle footsteps to flip into multimillions…

One day at time,

On my company’s dime

While I work on my craft

Starting from multiple drafts…

Bills paid with pride

Motivation to work in stride…

A CEO is a job position

How can we job shame

Folks making billions…

Your job maybe different,

Little more independent

However, we all are working hard to make a living…

Bitter Women Committee

I feel your pain,

Over and over love bleeding from the core of your veins…

I’ve been there,

But my heart not the same…

Recruiting women to be cold hearted,

To join in self absorption…is an invitation of insane…

I won’t settle for a single life,

I won’t give up on love

When God gave me this heart to be a wife…

Each loss, my heart get stronger

Beating a song to love harder…

My spirit is rich,

And I’m sharing the wealth…

The bitter women committee

Belong to someone else…

I’ll take each experience as practice,

One day my love will be the center of attraction…

No Queendom Pretending

Through remote vision

Your eyes see me as invisible…

Sweetheart, I’ve fought battles to be freed from heartache,

I gasp at the idea of entertaining any thoughts of being fake…

I’ve outgrown the make believe life of pretending,

I’ll let go of love if we’re not ascending…

See, I deserve to be seen in your life as I exist

Undeserving of pretending your not connected to me

When I’m the coffee with plenty of cream you fiend for in the mornings…

See, I could never treat you like a tool, using you

I won’t write our story if our love doesn’tĀ  come true,

These words from my heart bleed real thoughts

Soul simmering in real emotional knots…

I cringe at the thought of my soulful musing wasted,

Everything I do is with good intentions…

Love, being the victory of my mission…

I want us to bask in the essence of brunch dates,

Leading to conversations in the park,

Weekdays in bookstores,

Admiring words of art…

I know your desire to feel my silky skin

Palpate the deepest fibers of your being…

Entering the burrow of things getting deeper

Whispering freaky things in your ear,

Into late night moans being all we hear…

I prophesied your vision of my tongue spelling words on your abs you’ve never seen,

Exercising definitions of love

Mentality licking the lady box…squeaky clean…

I’m worthy of laying in consciousness of your feelings for me,

Since my voice waters you

Within these growing seeds,

I deserve intimacy…

A serenade of mutual flowers

Worth dancing in your frequency…

Inhaling euphoric trees after all-night love sessions…

My eminence valuable to let your ego go

To show the world I’m the one feeding your soul…

I deserve…real love,

I refuse the notion of nurturing our roots with my muse not in my view

Stuck in endless waiting for dreams to come true…

If you refuse to love me

I deserve to strut away in my freedom

I can’t settle for less

When I deserve to be the Queen in your Queendom…
